A weary 1930s warehouse in Newcastle upon Tyne was given a new lease of life. Previously used for storing sets for Tyne Tees TV, the brief was for conversion to modern speculative office/ studio space.
An extremely tight budget, required extremely careful thought to utilise as much of the existing buildings fabric as possible. Structural interventions were kept to a minimum. Inside the building, original brickwork has been left exposed, along with the old roof beams, in keeping with the building’s industrial past.
Stephen was design and project architect for 85 City Road whilst working with Bill Hopper / Howe Sadler.
