Remodelling of small family home.
A key aim for the clients of this 2 bedroom semi-detached house in the upper Ouseburn Valley was provision of an extra bedroom. However the property is located on a steeply sloping site and opportunities for extension were limited by topography and size.Demolition of the existing single storey glazed offshoot and careful consideration of the existing space within the property identified a new organisation for the accommodation. The existing stairs and passage were removed, and a new stair was provided within a narrow two storey extension (only 900mm wide and 5.5 sq m). Reorganisation of the space within the house now allowed a new bedroom on the first floor and an extended kitchen and new WC and cloakroom on the ground floor. The extension has full height glazing to allow views through the trees to Heaton Park and across the Ouseburn Valley.
