Conversion to apartments
Following closure of a local YHA Hostel, the building fell vacant and a new use was required.
Located on a prime corner site on the busy Jesmond Road, the three storey building had been previously adapted into a rabbit warren of small rooms and was badly in need of an upgrade.
Comprehensive re-organisation and conversion involved removing and resetting internal floor levels and rationalising circulation.
An existing offshoot was extended further to enable a disparate roof-scape to be tidied up, whilst at the same time providing additional floor space.
A total of ten self contained apartments, all with en suite facilities was provided and the building exterior upgraded to fit it’s prominent Conservation Area setting.
