New build house on tight brownfield site.
Nestled into the slope of the Ouseburn Valley to the rear the proposal sits immediately adjacent our two recently completed houses at No 113 & 115 Ouseburn Road . This energy efficient contemporary house is designed to sit comfortably alongside it neighbours by sharing a similar form and architectural language.
The tightly constrained building plot requires that careful consideration be given to channeling light into the long narrow interior. This is achieved principally by cutting out a small strip along the boundary line providing opportunities to open up the land locked interior spaces.
Glazing extends into a large wrap around glazed roof over the central living space. This light is projected yet further into a ground floor studio below via walk on glazed lenses set within the polished concrete floors.
The ground floor studio also has a cor-ten heavy ‘shop window’ onto the street frontage adjacent the entrance way. Both are slightly recessed back from the building frontage to create a small semi-private forecourt. The fully glazed frontage can be concealed or semi-concealed via a pair of industrial sized bi-folding doors.
