Artists studio extension
A tiny plot to the side of a traditional Tyneside end terrace house now hosts a light filled artist’s studio. At only 6sq m in building footprint, new accommodation is squeezed into every sq mm. Building to the very edges of the site boundary gives rise to a wedge shaped extension. This triangular form is accentuated by specially made angled bricks which deliberately emphasise sharp corners of the tight site lines.
A large bespoke concrete bench is built into the load bearing masonry structure adjacent a large glazed window onto the street.
