Glass extension, Newcastle upon Tyne

The clients were happy with the space within their home but the house felt cold and dark.

Existing patio doors were removed and a new extended opening formed in the south facing wall. A minimal structural glass extension was inserted to allow more light into the kitchen / dining space and open up views into the garden.

Existing timber floors throughout the whole ground floor were replaced with a new heated / insulated floor. Level floor finishes are continued out to a new patio connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces.

The existing kitchen was reconfigured, and arranged around a central island to allow space for the family to cook together.  The focus of the kitchen is turned towards the family room and to the views of the garden.

The finished design provides an expansive connection to the garden, blurring the interface between indoor and outdoor space and bringing light into the heart of the family living space.
